ABOUT
Making chip manufacturing learnable.
Fab Path is a free, interactive learning platform for semiconductors, microfabrication, and devices, built for students heading into the chip industry.
What it is
Short, illustrated lessons, hands-on games, and practice sessions that focus on the questions you miss. Each course follows the same loop, so once you've learned one, the others feel familiar.
Who it's for
- Students in electrical, materials, mechanical, and chemical engineering, physics, and chemistry, who rarely see a fab in their coursework.
- Technician and certificate program students preparing for hands-on cleanroom and equipment roles.
- Career-changers and the curious who want to understand how a chip goes from sand to a working device.
What's inside
- Sand to Chip: how a chip gets made, from quartz sand, silicon purification, and crystal growth, through the cleanroom, lithography, doping, and packaging, to the industry that builds it.
- MEMS & Microfabrication: cleanroom practice, lithography, deposition, etching, real device processes, and packaging.
- Supercapacitors: charge storage, materials, geometries, electrolytes, testing, fabrication, and applications.
- BioFETs & MOSFETs: how a transistor works, building through ion-sensing and biofunctionalization to how it becomes a biosensor.
Who built it
Fab Path is built by Kevin Medici. The Supercapacitors course draws on his MS thesis at San Diego State University (2026), New Generation of High-Power Density 3D Interdigitated Supercapacitors.
Accuracy and sources
The content is written for education. Numbers are typical textbook or published values, usually rounded, and real processes vary by fab and tool. Treat any figure as a starting point and check it against a primary source before relying on it for design or research.
Independent project. Fab Path is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any company mentioned on this site. Company names appear only to describe where these skills are used.
